Also because they’re touring from coast to coast – this week in Alberta –  one great tune from Blue Rodeo.

We’ll start and end hour two with memories of Janis Joplin. Who left us on Oct 4th, 1970. 

I was in the right place,  at the right time. I got to play her music and see her shows and do 4-5 interviews. Man, we had fun.

She insisted I drink Jack Daniel’s with her before each interview. Partly because she was a little nervous around an interview microphone and because she loved to see me lose my way with two drinks in me.  It was her way of bringing the Mountie in me down a notch or two.

Interviews were filled with laughter. That’s what I can still hear all these years later. The laugh when she threw her head back and howled at the moon.

Miss her still. Janis was 27 when she died.  She had finally found her own band – and they were all Canadians. The Full Tilt Boggie Band. They all made Pearl together.
