We all see “drama” built into press releases.
However, some interviews come fully stocked with career-defining moments.
When Keb’ Mo’ decided to call his new album “The Breakdown,” it wasn’t a metaphor so much as a declaration.
In 2024, Keb’ was in Africa teaching and touring. He was having trouble breathing but waited until he got home to check in with his Doctor.
The doc immediately took him to an emergency room, and the next two years of Keb’s life took shape.
The problem was not his lungs but rather his heart. A leaky valve. An aortic aneurysm. Requiring intensive surgery.

This is an amazing album, with very personal writing and phrasing. Every song pulls you into his world and struggles.
