THE VOICE BEHIND THE MIC
Terry David Mulligan
50+ Years on Air
Terry David Mulligan has spent more than fifty years on Canadian airwaves. His first career was with the RCMP in Alberta; he left in 1964 for radio, and went on to help create and programme Canada’s first FM underground rock station — CKLG-FM, now CFOX.
Television followed. He hosted CBC’s Good Rockin’ Tonite, then became a VJ and producer at MuchMusic, fronting the long-running Much West. He hosted Movie Television for CityTV and produced for Star!. Alongside all of it he built a career as a character actor, with roles in The Accused, The X-Files, Hard Core Logo, Mystery Alaska and Fantastic Four.
He has produced and hosted Mulligan Stew on CKUA since 1995 — thirty years of jazz, blues, rock, folk, roots and world music. The Mulligan Stew Podcast, now well past its 400th episode, carries the long-form interviews: intimate, unhurried conversations with musicians, filmmakers and writers. He also makes Tasting Room Radio, a weekly hour on food, wine and the people behind them, and co-hosts Hollywood & Vines with Jason Priestley, seen in 190 countries. All of it is recorded in Mill Bay, on Vancouver Island.
Terry has been named Broadcaster of the Year by the British Columbia Association of Broadcasters, and is a member of the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame with a star outside Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom. Associate Producer Corey Wood has worked with Terry for more than sixteen years on the digital production of his programmes.
