The interconnected songs were all written, performed, arranged and produced by Andy, and follow a simple plot: the narrator goes to his neighborhood dive, finds out his ex is back in town, and she eventually shows up.
Some of his characters can be found in his last album The Party. All are sympathetic people who share countless inside jokes, shots, and life-or-death musings when the night gets hazy.
It just happens to be one of the best albums I’ve heard in quite a while. The delight in the songs may not reveal themselves on first listen but the second time..the puzzle starts to show itself.

Just days ago Tom Wilson gets a Juno nomination for Lee Harvey Osmond.
And Blackie releases King of this Town.
The coming tour may take the entire year!
What started off in 1996 as a one-off tribute album in celebration of the music of Willie P Bennett has evolved into 25 years of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings.

I used to see musician Daniel Lanois at least once a year as he toured Canada with various bands..pedal steel was his specialty.
I can’t begin to explain the joy I had watching his career explode.
From his music-filled home growing up in Hull, Que to his Mothers move to Hamilton Ontario
Daniel and his brother Bob were born to play and sing.
They built a small studio in her basement and that became their light at the end of the tunnel.
Daniel produced enough music with local bands that the one and only Brian Eno asked to meet him and they started working together.
This lead to Grammy-winning albums with U2, Bob Dylan plus Peter Gabriel, Robbie Robertson, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, The Neville Brothers, Willie Nelson.
Think about the body of work…Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, Oh Mercy, Time out of Mind, Wrecking Ball, So & Us just as a starter.
-Needless to say, I hadn’t seen Daniel for many years – 21 to be exact – when I found him backstage at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival of a couple of years ago.
We started trying to figure out where we last saw each other…
It was a studio in Calgary recording a charity single called Land – with The Tragically Hip, Midnight Oil, Crash Vegas, Hothouse Flowers, etc.
The single was Land – to bring awareness to clear cut logging in Clayoquot Sound.

This week Terry reconnects with Headstones lead singer. Hugh Dillon They first met acting on the set of Director Bruce McDonalds second film Hard Core Logo.
Hugh’s acting career has grown to include series lead roles in Flashpoint, Durham County plus feature roles in Degrassi: The Next Generation, Yellowstone, and Twin Peaks.
Hugh was the leader of Kingston rock band The Headstones from 1987 to 2003. He attended school with Gord Downey and members of The Tragically Hip. The Headstones reformed in 2011 and have managed to survive their excesses. Hugh has found a balance between acting, music, and sobriety that at times must feel like a minor miracle.
