Episode Notes

The guest is Ron Sexsmith on Gordon Lightfoot

“Luckily, they both have inherited the “Love of Music” gene. If it’s one gift a parent can bestow upon their child, it would be a love and appreciation for all genres of music. Whatever can get them through times that may be hard, happy or otherwise, music is that constant in life: from birth to death.

Let us all continue to support CKUA, in whatever way we can,  so the music can play on for the next generation!”

Tracey Feist (donor hour two)

Two very plugged in donors.

Hour one

Team Witt asking for nothing more than music for the heart and head.

Great Motown hits, the best of Kathleen Edwards, they’re attending her concert this week. (Michael and son Josh just sent a great shot of  Kathleen backstage at a meet and greet. She sang two requests.)

Hour  one also includes a tribute to Muddy Waters – born April 4.  Great  Hip single from Molly Johnson and Jim Cuddy, Randy Newman from Good Old Boys and Bonnie Bramlett

A lot of strong songs. Somebody out there,  who has never heard of Bonnie Bramlett,  will be will be blown away by the two songs..one in each hour.

Looking for the next gen through 70’s soul music

Hour two

Guest is Ron Sexsmith,  who plays  two sold out shows at Bell Stage at Canadian Music Centre. Telling tales of Gordon Lightfoot and Elton John.

When Gordon Lightfoot died, a tribute concert was organized at Massey Hall with an all-star cast of singers and songwriters. Gord’s biggest admirer  was Ron Sexsmith. Ron attended every Lightfoot show at Massey Hall.  He was not invited to perform or attend.

Ron decided to create his own tribute  and he’s been doing it ever since. Two sold out shows April 8/9  at  National Music Centre on the Bell stage is proof Gord’s music lives on  through Ron.

Gordon Lightfoot and Terry David Mulligan

(gord lightfoot and tdm)

The hour includes donor special requests for Black Keys. Xavier Rudd and Amy Winehouse.

I add some Faces,  Delaney and Bonnie, Mumford and son (with Christ Stapleton), Motown, The Wilburys, CSNY.

Thank you Bar Open  A Ranches.
