Episode Notes

The last Summer Stew plays like a time machine.
Thoughts on the lives of Dolly Parton, Tim Curry and Frank Beard (ZZ Top)
And blending old blues and old musical instruments of India, for example. Finding the connection between the two.
Friday,   brilliant Gulf Islands string specialist Harry Manx released his 22nd  album, Falling Upwards.
The titles give a hint at what Harry’s been creating.

First hour donors are Bob and Barb Shaunessey- long-time supporters who recently made an inspirational gift of $100,000, noting it aligns perfectly with CKUA’s 100th anniversary in 2027.
Barb loves the music of Huey Lewis, so a double shot of Huey kicks things off.
Paul Simon live
Dominique Fils-Aimé
Robert Plant and Saving Grace
Ripple (live) from Phil Lesh and Friends – from the concert Dear Jerry!
Derek Trucks Band – Keys to the Highway

“I’ll be like Bob Hope, touring when I’m 100. I love being busy. … I will never retire. I hope to fall dead in the middle of some great event or some great song I’m singing. Then they’ll say, ‘Oh well, she went happy and doing what she loves.’” (April 2004)
DOlly Parton
Sheryl Crow and Jessie Wells
Keb’ Mo’
Lee Michaels
Jerry Lee Lewis
The Harry Manx interview has three Harry tracks from Falling Upwards.
Gonna have to serve somebody (Dylan)
Step Softly
Pork Pie Turban

“Dolly Parton did all the good she could, for all the people she could, for as long as she ever could… Dolly, we’ll miss your great heart.”
