Nothing fancy here, my friends.
No wine reviews.
No food pairings.
No tasting notes.
This particular Tasting Room Radio episode is all about the recent wildfires in and around Summerland, Peachland and parts of West Kelowna.
Over 62,000 acres of fire damage.
150 structures damaged or destroyed. Livestock released and saved. Some lost.
1000’s of residents evacuated. Penticton and surrounding communities took in as many as could be housed. An amazing effort.
BC Wildfire Service brought their training to attack and bring the fires to a hold.
From first smoke to finish it took 21 days.
Here’s where you come in.
The rest of the story is about supporting those affected by the fires.
That’s where this week’s guests come in!!
Christine Coletta will speak about her experience during the Bald Range wildfire and her evacuation, its impact on the community and the growing #SummerlandStrong effort to support Summerland businesses and residents through recovery.
Christine is the co-owner of Okanagan Crush Pad and Haywire Wines and Garnet Valley Ranch. Both properties were surrounded by the fires.

Lee Ann Froese – Owner of Town Hall Brands. Works with wineries in the area.
Knows the valley and its communities very well.
LeeAnn will talk about the wineries up Bottleneck Drive. Possible smoke effects and most importantly the big fundraising event this Sunday Sept 6.
It’s a special Mega Market called Our Doors Are Open.
On Summerland’s main street From 9am – 2pm. Hosted by The Summerland Rotary Club. TOTA (Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association) is also a partner in this event.

It’s an expanded market organized as a way to bring the community together. Showcase the residents and giving visitors another reason to spend the day in town. Even businesses that are not operating at full capacity are invited to come and share their story.
There’s also an open invitation to its neighbours in Peachland, Penticton, West Kelowna, Kelowna and communities across the Okanagan and Thompson Okanagan.
EVERYONE.
What a day it promises to be.
